While working with asanas on a physical level, we will aim to create a deeper connection with our subtle body, thereby attaining mind, body and soul connection.
Every Therapeutic Yoga Masterclass will start with an opening chant, followed by 60 minutes of asana practise and 30 minutes of Pranayama. We will utilize poses, breathing techniques, and meditation to benefit and improve overall health, and calm down the nervous system. The holistic focus of our sessions encourages the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Each class will cover different areas of the body to deepen our physical practice in the form of asana and learn to use those techniques to connect on a deeper level.
Back Arches for Opening the Heart Center: In this class, we will work on various back arches. Posterior side is known as our spiritual side because the posterior chain houses many spiritual organs. You will learn how to control the breath and safely move into comprehensible back arches connecting to your posterior side. As back arches open the chest and upper body, they stimulate the heart chakra, Anahata, allowing us to open more fully in our lives - to open up to our emotions, experiences and in our relationships. Strong backbends can sometimes release stored emotions such as frustration, fear, anger, sadness as well as joy and love.
Forward Extension for A balanced State of Mind: Forward extensions are calming in nature, which will help remove excessive heat and achieve equanimity and a balanced state of mind.
Inversions for Calming the Nervous System: Inversions calm the central nervous system, restore optimal levels of calmness in your body and are the best solution to balance an overexcited or sluggish mind.
Asanas for Releasing Blocked Energy: When life gets hectic, physical tension and emotional irritability are often stored in the shoulder area. Our shoulders start rounding forward or lifting toward the ears, the head juts forward, and we develop a compressed and defeated posture. The hips, on the other hand, are our sense of security and physical freedom. We carry old pains, leftover memories, illusions and disappointments in our hips. In this session, we will practise different hip and shoulder asanas to help release blocked energy in these areas.
Having gone through a fair share of rough experiences in her life, Ashna found solace, strength, and inspiration in yoga and meditation. For her, it is not about what we do on the mat, but rather what we learn and incorporate in our daily life. Having recognised the potency of the ancient Indian wisdom and its healing quality, it has been her deepest desire to share it with everyone.
Incorporating the therapeutic principles of healing is what is essential for Anirudh in his yoga classes. He has been teaching Hatha or Restorative Yoga since 2014 in Mumbai, India, currently guiding around four classes a day. For him, it is equally important to teach the student how to access the pose as it is to get into the essence of the posture - to experience the feeling of it.
