- What’s your life motto?
My fife motto is "be mindful of the affairs of others".
- What is Inner Peace for you?
Inner peace for me is connecting with the spirit in the most intimate way through prayer, meditation, and silence.
- Could you describe your most peaceful moment/situation?
My most peaceful moments happen in the middle of the night when everything is still. I use this time to get in touch with any of my discomforts, to embrace my mind, and take time to heal myself as I prepare for the day.
- What experience taught you the most in your life?
The experience that taught me the most in my life was the death of my grandmother. She is the one that taught me how to pray, how to overcome adversity, and when she died, I learned that she was a guide and I could still make the best out of life and what she taught me would never die.
- What was the most valuable piece of advice that you received?
The most valuable piece of advice I ever got was from a mentor that told me, "if you are willing to do the hard work in the begging than you can succeed at anything".
- Who/What is your biggest teacher?
My biggest teacher was Javon Thompson. He taught me systematic theology and I used those teachings to help me in every area of life. Everything has a system to it and his teachings allowed me to tap into that mindset.
- What do you do when you have a bad day?
What I have a bad day I find time to binge watch tv and detach from whatever is bothering me.
- If you could wake up tomorrow having gained one quality or ability, what would it be?
If I wake up tomorrow and add one more ability I would add a greater level of patience.
- What is your funniest/most defining/most beautiful characteristic?
My most defining characteristic is my smile. People recognize me by my smile, I also have a way to get over setbacks quickly.
Pastor Tillman’s community work takes him from boardrooms and investor meetings to at-risk schools, shelters, senior centers and more. A graduate of Drake Business School where he received a diploma in Business Systems, Pastor Tillman helps churches develop financial independence, self-sustaining revenue, and advocate for change. He is also the New York Leader of Urban Yogis, a health and wellness training program with yoga as the cornerstone.
